Speaker and Theme

A Cloud of Witnesses: Stories of Calling and Leadership

Join us for a rich and engaging retreat experience guided by two North Park Seminary faculty, Michelle Dodson and Hauna Ondrey, who have been instrumental in the Covenant’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of women’s ordination. Set against the beauty of Covenant Harbor, this series of sessions invites you into a dynamic, thoughtful, and personal exploration of women’s contributions to the life of the church—past, present, and future.

Dr. Michelle Dodson, sociologist and author of the fifth decadal study on Covenant clergywomen, brings insight into the lived realities, patterns, and ongoing evolution of women’s leadership in ministry.

Dr. Hauna Ondrey, historian and creator of a digital exhibit chronicling this fifty-year journey, offers a compelling narrative of the people, movements, and moments that shaped this history.

Together, Michelle and Hauna will engage in a lively, conversational format that weaves together scholarship, storytelling, and reflection. These sessions will explore how change unfolds over time—how faithful individuals and communities respond to God’s call—and what we can learn from their witness.

Through guided storytelling and interactive elements, attendees will be invited to reflect on their own experiences and to connect their stories with the broader “cloud of witnesses” who have shaped the church. From pioneers to everyday acts of courage and faithfulness, we will discover how particular stories illuminate the path of Christian discipleship for all of us.

Come ready to listen, to share, to learn. Together, we will honor the past, engage the present, and discern our role in the future of the church.

Workshops and Activities

Workshops:

During the morning time, there will be various workshops to join and rotate through for participants all focused on spiritual growth and practices. Each workshop will be geared towards a different spiritual practice. This is your built in rest time! Some will be free to rotate and try individually. Others will be a formal teaching style to learn something new and practice. This is also a great time to step away and have your own time alone with the Lord. God gives us rest and at the Women’s Retreat you’ll not only hear and learn about rest, but get to live it.

All workshops are open to everyone and will be geared towards a wide range of experience and comfortability. More info to come about specific titles.

Activities:

Choose 3 adventure activities that can either be $5 each which can be chosen as part of registration or sign up and pay when you arrive.
