Outdoor Ed

Covenant Harbor’s Outdoor Education program serves dozens of schools and hundreds of students during the school year. Our program is rooted in experiential learning, where hands-on experiences are our primary vehicle for learning. Our staff work hard to consistently improve OE class curriculum and content. We provide year-round programming and are dedicated to providing the highest quality service possible for each group.

Take a peek at how one of the schools experienced outdoor education here at Covenant Harbor!

We are excited that you are considering partnering with us to meet your group’s needs! Just follow the steps below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Step 1: Consider the following questions.

  • How long would you like your program to be? Whether you decide to join us for 3 hours, a full day, or overnight we have options that can work for you.

1/2 Day: 3-4 hours of programming

Full Day: 5-6 hours of programming

Super Day: 6-7 hours of programming.

                                    Overnight options are also available.

  • How many people will take part in your program? (Please include a count of children and adults). Generally we require at least 10 people.
  • What dates work best for you? It may be helpful to have several options in mind.
  • If you are staying overnight, what type of lodging do you prefer?

Step 2: Contact Peter or Andrew with the above information. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Package programming may include the activities listed on the Recreational Activities tab and one evening activity per day. Covenant Harbor trained and experienced staff provide instruction and facilitation for all these activities.

Overnight guest group add-on rates begin at $16.00 per person.

Programs are custom designed to fit your needs, budget and goals. Time frames range from a few hours to multiple days. We also provide program services at your facility or other appropriate sites.

We have a number of options to help make your trip affordable.  There are discounts for school districts and specialty packages available.  Please contact us for additional information and rates.

Whether your group is an athletic team, a Boy Scout or Girl Scout group, a birthday party or any other group of people, we would love to design a custom-made program to fit your needs! Package rate vary depending on length of program, time of year and housing.  Contact us for more specific information.

Athletic Teams

Athletic teams succeed or fail not only on the basis of talent but also on the ability of players to work together. Covenant Harbor specializes in unique challenges designed to grow your team’s potential, develop leaders and build unity. We develop specific challenges using our high ropes course, outdoor and indoor climbing walls, zip lines, low ropes course elements and other team building challenges* that are designed to meet your player’s abilities and meet team goals. You can choose to address specific team dynamics and/or focus on common issues of trust, communication, cooperation, commitment, and problem-solving.

This package has evolved from our work with elite volleyball club teams associated with Sports Performance Volleyball Club (Aurora, IL) and Illini Elite Volleyball Club (Bloomington, IL).

*We are committed to innovation in our programs. Based on your goals we can adjust the level of challenge for your group.

Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts offer phenomenal programs that help to develop youth of character, courage and confidence. Covenant Harbor’s Outdoor Education and Ropes Course programs naturally supplement the already strong Scouts organization. Making our home in Lake Geneva, WI, we have the resources of beautiful Geneva Lake and forested grounds to share with you. Your group will be able to meet select badge requirements with our Outdoor Education classes and Ropes Course activities, just have a little fun and get to know each other, or a little bit of both!

Birthday Parties

Birthdays are great times to celebrate a special person by doing something special! Covenant Harbor offers packages that include indoor/outdoor climbing walls, zip lines, the Giant Swing or high ropes. Once you have enjoyed your adventurous activity, let us provide you with a party room to open gifts and a cake with candles to enjoy!

Winter

Winter in Wisconsin may be cold, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy camp! During the winter we offer many of our standard programs as well as some new ones. Come join us for winter-specific activities like cross country skiing, tubing and ice skating (weather permitting). You can also choose to enjoy a winter backdrop as you take Outdoor Education classes, scale the climbing tower, ride the Giant Swing or overcome challenges on our low ropes course. Indoor activities are also available including our indoor climbing wall, team building activities and game room.

The safety of our participants and staff is a top priority at Covenant Harbor. We maintain high safety standards bolstered by our over 25 years of experience in the experiential education/challenge course program industry.

Though nothing in life is “risk free” we consider ourselves to be expert risk managers, with protocol and appropriate safety equipment to back us up. We routinely perform safety checks on ropes course participants, safety equipment and facilities used in our programs. Our staff participates in seasonal trainings and many are CPR/First Aid certified or Emergency Responders.

We also require low adult to youth ratios so there is maximum supervision of our participants. Our close attention to the details of running a safe program allow for an effective program where learning and experience is the focus of our guests’ time here.

Covenant Harbor and its programs are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA).  All ropes  course and challenge course facilities are inspected annually by an Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) certified ropes course builder and inspection company.
